Understanding Next Goal Probabilities

A NextGoalAI prediction answers a specific question: which side, if any, will score the next goal from the moment the prediction is made? It is not a prediction of the final match winner. This guide explains the selected outcome, the Probability percentage, and why the original match context matters.

NextGoalAI provides football analysis. Predictions are estimates, not guarantees, and the platform does not accept or place bets.

Three possible next-goal outcomes

A team can be leading, drawing or losing at the prediction minute. HOME and AWAY describe who scores next, not who eventually wins. NextGoalAI confirms results through its History evaluation process.

How to interpret a probability

The number beside Probability is the estimated likelihood of the selected outcome at publication time, expressed as a percentage. An illustrative 67% HOME prediction means the model estimated that HOME was more likely than not to be the next scoring outcome at that moment; it does not imply certainty or a historical 67% accuracy rate.

Hypothetical match example — not a real prediction

The example deliberately separates the next scoring event from the final score. Only confirmed History evaluations should be used to describe how an actual published prediction performed.

Why the prediction minute matters

The match score, clock and available evidence can change after publication. A later scoreboard is therefore not a substitute for the score and prediction minute shown when the selection was made. Read the prediction in its original match-time context, and use History to view its confirmed result.

Live can be empty when no prediction qualifies for publication. An empty list is not evidence that the model expects no goals: NO GOAL is an explicit prediction outcome, not a synonym for no available prediction.

Probability, Confidence and evaluation are different
